Funeral services for Michael Dennis Schwantes, 55, of Hewitt were held on Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Hewitt Community Center with Reverend Jacob Neufeld officiating. Michael passed away on January 13, 2003 in Wadena, Minnesota. Michael was born to Leonard and Margaret (Semlar) Schwantes on February 1, 1947 in Spencer, Wisconsin.

Michael was a member of the Hewitt community for 29 years and was a maintenance worker. He belonged to the Lions Club and fire department. His hobbies included spending time with his grandchildren, wood working, oil painting, gardening and having coffee. Michael was preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Margaret Schwantes, and sister, Carolyn Nunley.
