Wry, Laura P. (5 Feb. 1905 - 30 Oct. 1998)
Laura P. Wry, 93, formerly of Spencer, died at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 30, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was admitted Oct. 22 from the Marshfield Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Spencer. The Rev. DuWayne Schneider will officiate. Joan Will will be the organist for congregational singing.
Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman, Clark County. Pallbearers will be Jon and Tom Kober and John and Richard Hoops. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and again from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. She was born Feb. 5, 1905, in Spencer to August and Elizabeth (nee Griepentrog) Hoops. Her first marriage was to Walter Brockopp on Aug. 20, 1925. Her second marriage was to John Wry on Oct. 14, 1929, in Spencer.
Laura attended Spencer area schools. She was a lifetime resident of the Spencer area until entering the Marshfield Center on July 24, 1995. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Altar Guild.
She is survived by her daughter, Mabel E. Morrow of Marshfield; two stepchildren, Shirley (Virgil) Hebert of Spencer and Gladys Wry of Black Creek, her granddaughter, Gwen (Peter) Kober of Campbellsport, five stepgrandchildren, Karen Yonker of Spencer, Dennis (Elaine) Hebert of Owen, Barbara (John) Adamus of Council Grove, Kan., William (Jody) Wry of Black Creek and Brenda Wry of Kensington, Md.; and by 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Wry, in May 1960, by a stepson, Lloyd Wry, granddaughter, Linda Morrow, her parents, a sister, Adela Huber, three brothers, Raymond, Arthur and Wilbur Hoops, and by her son-in-law, Robert Morrow.
