Kacer, Karen Joy (Marriage - 27 Sept. 1969)
St. John’s Lutheran Church at Spencer was the scene of the wedding of Miss Karen Joy Kacer, daughter of Mrs. Joyce Kacer, 305 W. Cleveland St., and Dennis A. Mellenthin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mellenthin, route 1, Spencer, on Saturday, Sept. 27.
Lee Jackson gave the bride in marriage and the Rev. David J. Ault was the officiating clergyman. Mrs. Luepke played the organ for the ceremony.
The bride, carrying red roses and white stephanotis, wore an A-line empire satin and chantilly lace chapel-entrained gown and a petal and crystal crown holding an elbow-length veil of illusion.
Bridal aides were Miss Carla Kacer, Marshfield, the maid of honor, and Miss Becky Mellenthin, Spencer, bridesmaid. They carried arrangements of pink carnations and wore blue chiffon over taffeta and lace formals and pearl and petal headpieces with short pouf veils.
Scott Freeman, Spencer, was best man; Mitchell Kacer, Marshfield, the groomsman; and Ronald Mellenthin and Randy Jackson ushered.
Wedding day events were held at the Spencer Municipal Hall. Following a northern wedding trip, the Mellenthins will live at 1107 E. Blodgett St.
Mrs. Mellenthin, who has been working for Weyerhaeuser Company, graduated in 1968 from Marshfield Senior High School. Her husband graduated the same year from Spencer High School and then attended North Central Technical Institute before beginning employment at Hammer Blow Frames in Stratford.
