SPENCER -- Maxine Yoder, 88, of Spencer, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. March 17 at United Methodist Church in Spencer. Friends may call from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer.

SPENCER -- Maxine Yoder, 88, of Spencer, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at United Methodist Church in Spencer. The Rev. Patricia Herdt will officiate. Burial will be in the West Spencer Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Yoder's grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, and again at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
Maxine was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Wheeler, Ill., the daughter of Preston and Marie (Gibson) Lake. Maxine attended Wheeler schools and was a devoted homemaker all her life.
The former Maxine Lake was united in holy marriage to Walter E. Yoder on Feb. 19, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo. The couple started their marriage in Arthur, Ill., raising four children. In 1957, they moved to Unity to engage in farming.
Mrs. Yoder was a member of the United Methodist Church, in Spencer, and the UMWomen Society. She enjoyed listening to Lawrence Welk, playing bridge and crossword puzzles.
Maxine is lovingly survived by her children Susan (Ivan) Mulvaney, Arthur, Ill.; Preston (Grace) Yoder, Rice Lake; Gloria Folyer, Wisconsin Rapids; Walter "Clarence" (Debbie) Yoder, Evansville, Ind.: 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, on November 11, 1993, one sister, Madeline, and a son-in-law, Gerry Folyer.
Those wishing to make an Expression of Sympathy in Maxine's name are encouraged to do so to Ministry Homecare Hospice.
