Wenzel, Mildred A. (16 Aug. 1925 - 14 Mar. 2009)

Mildred A. Wenzel, 83, Stratford, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, and again from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. A combined parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

STRATFORD -- Mildred A. Wenzel, 83, of Stratford, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Mount View Care Center, in Wausau.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Stratford. Rev. Thomas Rudolph will officiate and music will be provided by St. Joseph's Resurrection Choir. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, town of Eau Pleine.

Serving as pallbearers will be godchildren Dennis Frodl, Richard Smith, Lou Ann Meyer, Leon Wenzel, Brian Bloczynski and Kevin Kurtzweil. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 pm. to 8 p.m. at Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, in Stratford, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at St. Joseph's Church. A combined parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wenzel was born Aug. 16, 1925, in the town of Emmet, Marathon County, to Jacob and Mary Ellen (Handrick) Kurtzweil. She was a graduate of St. Robert's Parochial School, Halder, and Stratford High School. She and Leo J. Wenzel were married Aug. 8, 1945, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Halder. He died Dec. 6, 1994.

Mildred is survived by her children, John (Janice) Wenzel of Rice Lake, Donna (Gerry) Leffel of Wausau, and Jerry Wenzel of Stratford. She is also survived by two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren, Traci Wenzel and her son Jacob and Jennifer (Brian) Rohlick and their children, Brittney and Brendan.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two sons, James and David Wenzel, and brothers, Jacob "Earl" Kurtzweil, Francis "Allen" Kurtzweil, and Norbert Kurtzweil and a sister, Glendene Bloczynski.
