Droegenmueller, Ruth Norma (6 June 1911 - 16 Sept. 2007)

FORT ATKINSON - Ruth Norma Droegemueller, 96, formerly of Janesville, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at the Golden Living Center, Fort Atkinson. She was born in Spencer, WI, on June 6, 1911, the youngest child of Rev. Karl E.J. and Hannah (Marquardt) Schmidt. Ruth married the Rev. Immanuel T. Droegemueller on Oct. 17, 1939, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, WI. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children.

Her husband served the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Churches in Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Her husband’s last church was St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI. In August of 1975, her husband retired from the active ministry. Their retirement years were spent in Delavan, WI, and Fontanelle, IA. Her husband died on Feb. 14, 1996. In September of 1997, she moved to Milton, WI, to live with her son, Mark. Since April of 2003, she had resided at Golden Living Center, Fort Atkinson.

She was an organist, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the various Ladies societies in the churches her husband had served. She was a member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters; and a brother.

She is survived by her 4 children: Rev. Carl (Marcia) of Maryville, MO, Rev. Paul (Wilma) of Wichita Falls, TX, Rhoda (Rev. Karl) Davies of Hammond, IN, and Mark of Milton, WI; 8 grandchildren: Hope (Joe) Pappert, Chris (Tiffany) Droegemueller, Adam (Melissa) Droegemueller, Joshua (Kim) Droegemueller, Rev. Timothy (Susan) Droegemueller, Kurt Davies, Gretchen (James) Smith, and Ingrid (Joel) Wickboldt; and 11 great-grandchildren: Vanessa Pappert, Jaclyn Pappert, Carson Droegemueller, Chase Droegemueller, Cooper Droegemueller, Malia Droegemueller, Jacob Droegemueller, Luke Droegemueller, Isaac Droegemueller, Alex Smith and Eva Wickboldt.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Janesville, with Rev. Willis Piepenbrink and Rev. Cory Burma officiating.

Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Adrian, MI, on Saturday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church on Friday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home is assisting the family.
