Diers, Jeanette (Marriage - 18 Sept. 1946)
In an all white, late summer wedding, Miss Jeanette Diers, of Athens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Diers, of Milan, became the bride of Gerald Muehler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Muehler, Wednesday, Sept. 18. The Rev. Raymond Schultz read the service before the 9:00 nuptial high mass at St. Thomas’ Catholic church, Milan.
The bride wore a gown of white nylon, made with a long train. The veil with its long train, fell from a head dress of pearls and rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of white roses. She wore a necklace with jewels, which were brought from Germany by the groom, and a watch brought from Switzerland.
Miss Margaret Diers, of Athens, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Lavern Wartner, of Biramwood, cousin of the bride, was best man.
Other members of the bridal party were Miss Arlene Carter, cousin of the bride, and Clarence Schreiber, of Athens, Miss Martha Carter, of Athens and Lloyd Van Dreel, cousins of Colby.
The bride’s attendants were all dressed alike in frocks of white; net was worn by the maid of honor and organdy by the two bridesmaids. They wore wrist corsages of mixed flowers.
Following the ceremony a wedding reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents and dinner and supper were served. Covers were laid for 200 guests. Bouquets of mixed flowers and blue and white crepe streamers were used in the home decorations.
In the evening, a wedding dance was held at the Trianon Gardens.
Mr. and Mrs. Muehler left on a wedding trip to La Crosse and the southern part of the state. They will be at home after Oct. 1 on Route 4, Wausau.
