Pioneer Dies
John Sell, who has made his home on a farm four and one half miles from Stratford for nearly forty years, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield early Wednesday.
The deceased was born near Milwaukee on a farm on November 6, 1858. He came to Stratford in the early ’90 with a railroad building crew and assisted in the work of building the line between Wausau and Marshfield. After its completion he moved on to a farm near Rozellville and resided there until his death.
Mr. Sell had been ailing for the past five years with cancer, it having made its appearance on his lower lip and slowly spread to his neck and chest. During the past five years he had submitted to five operations.
During his residence here he has made a wide circle of friends.
The funeral was held Thursday from the Lutheran church near Rozellville, the Rev. Mr. Kolander officiating. Internment was made in the church cemetery.
