Below, June A. (Marriage - 3 Sept. 1949)
Miss June A. Below, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Below, Spencer, became the bride of Lloyd Hoops, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Hoops, Spencer, at a 2 o'clock ceremony Saturday afternoon in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randolph Mueller officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white satin gown enhanced with scalloped lace. Her gown was fashioned with a fitted bodice, a long train, and lace peplum, with the lace extending down the front of the full skirt. Scallops of lace also edged the veil which fell from a headdress beaded with rhinestones. Rhinestones also appeared on the sheer yoke of the gown. She carried a cascade bouquet of white gladioli and red roses. Mr. and Mrs. James Hoops, Milwaukee, attended the couple as best man and matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the Misses Isabelle Fenhouse, Spencer, and Ruth Kastning, Woodstock, Ill., while groomsmen were Lawrence and Arnold Below, Town of Spencer.
Elmer Hoops, Spencer, and William Ertl, Colby, performed the ushering duties.
The matron of honor was attired in a yellow taffeta gown fashioned with a net yoke and full, gathered skirt. She wore matching gauntlets and carried a cascade of orchid gladioli, repeating the flowers in her hair. The bridesmaids wore identical gowns of orchid taffeta, with sheer yokes and bouffant tucked skirts. In their hair were yellow gladioli, which also composed their cascade bouquets. Their gauntlets were of matching orchid shade.
A reception for 150 guests was held at the home of the bride's parents. White, yellow and orchid streamers and white wedding bells decorated the home. Later the wedding dinner was served at 5 o'clock in the church parlors. Guests were present from Milwaukee, Woodstock, Ill., Beloit, Mosinee, Marshfield, Chili, Sheldon, Unity, Dancy and Spencer.
The couple left on a week's honeymoon in northern Wisconsin. They will reside at the home of the groom's parents, where the bridegroom is engaged in farming. Both are graduates of the Spencer high school, the bride with the class of 1946 and the groom with the class of 1945. The bride is employed at the Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Marshfield.
