Kowalski, August Constantine (6 Apr. 1895 – 8 May 1957)
A finding that August (Gust) Constantine Kowalksi of the town of Kronenweter, Marathon county, age 62, came to his death by drowning last week Wednesday was announced Friday by Marathon county authorities following an autopsy Friday afternoon by Dr. Bartholomew, a Wausau pathologist, at Mosinee.
The lifeless body of Kowalski, a cattle dealer, and trucker who lived in the town of Kronenweter since 1920, was found by a searching party from the sheriff’s office after Kowalksi had been reported missing the previous night. Lacerations about the head led to the ordering of the autopsy.
Kowalski was born in Poland April 6, 1895, and came to the States in 1913. He moved to the town of Kronenwetter seven years later and resided there since. He and Miss Martha Koskye were married at St. Michael’s Catholic church at Wausau on June 27, 1915.
Surviving are his widow, six sons, three daughters, a brother, two sisters and 20 grand children.
