Tenaglia, Daniel Edward (24 Oct. 1969 – 13 Feb. 2007)
OPELIKA, Ala. -- Daniel Edward Tenaglia, 37, died Feb. 13, 2007, at East Alabama Medical Center. He was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Feb. 11.
A service and gathering will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church gardens in Winter Haven, Fla. A celebration of his life will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at his home in Opelika, Ala.
Dan was born Oct. 24, 1969, to Alfredo and Linda Tenaglia. He married Karen Luepke, daughter of Ken and Jan Luepke of Spencer, on Sept. 10, 2003.
Dan was self-employed as a custom furniture maker, a trade he learned from his father. He had extensive schooling in botany and was the creator of two Web sites dedicated to educating others about the flora of Missouri and Alabama, both of which are considered excellent resources for plant identification and used by people around the world.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; parents Alfredo and Linda Tenaglia; sisters Gloria Cassidy and Marisa Campos; and brother Rik. He is further survived by two nieces and three nephews.
