Many of the lumber companies operated their own sawmills, cutting their own lumber. The early ones were the H. Robinson Lumber Co., Neceda Lumber Co., Joseph Damon & Son Lumber Co., Kerr-Kelter Lumber Co., Neils Brothers Lumber Company and John Diamond Lumber Co.
Spencer Lumber Supply Co., was organized by T. A. Tack and H. A. Martin in 1913. This business was later sold to Connor Lumber Supply Co. who sold it to Gateway Lumber Co. The present owners and operators are the United Building Center.
