Stephens, Lotus (Marriage – 30 Jan.)

Thursday morning, Jan. 30, at 9 o'clock at the Luth. parsonage, Spencer, Vern Marten and Miss Lotus Stephens, Chicago, were quietly married, Rev. A.C. Stapel officiating. Miss Irene Luepke and Bernard Meier attended the bridal pair. A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the groom's parents for the bridal party. They departed the same morning for Chicago, where they will visit the home of the bride's parents.

Miss Stephens is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Stephens, Chicago, where the bride has also been employed. She is not an entire stranger here, having visited on a number of occasions and made a host of friends.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marten, Spencer. He graduated from the Spencer High School in the class of 1932, and has since been engaged in C.C.C. work and other forms of labor.
