Anderson, Helen Beatrice (Marriage – 26 Dec.)

A very beautiful and unusual wedding took place at 4 P.M., Dec. 26, at the First East Koshkonong church at Cambridge, Wisconsin, when Ray J. Hoops, of Spencer, and Miss Helen Beatrice Anderson of Cambridge, were united in marriage, Rev. O. Borje officiating. The ceremony was performed by candlelight, with a great Christmas tree on each side of the church adding the Yuletide color to the scene. The bride wore a dress of white brocaded velvet and veil in cap effect with train and carried a white Bible with streamers of lilies of the valley. She was accompanied by her maid of honor, Miss Irene Anderson, sister of the bride, and Miss Evelyn Anderson, cousin of the bride, both of Cambridge. They wore dresses of wine colored velvet and carried bouquets of roses. The best men were Arthur and Wilbur Hoops of Spencer, brothers of the groom. The groom wore a tailored suit of dark blue material.

Mabel Brockopp of Spencer, niece of the groom, acted as flower girl, wearing a dress of Royal blue velvet and carrying a colonial bouquet.

Master Elroy Huber of Spencer, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer, and carried a white Calla lily. The ushers were Orin and Sanford Anderson, brothers of the bride. Mr. Phil( I think Phillip-- part of it was unreadable) Natzke of Oconomowoc, uncle of the groom, played the wedding march. Edmund Anderson, brother of the bride, sang a solo, "I Love You Truly."

The ceremony was followed by a three course wedding dinner served at the church. Christmas colors were used for table decorations. Plates were laid for 70 guests.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Adolph Anderson of Cambridge, and was a graduate of the Whitewater State Teachers College, class of 1933. She is now teaching at Pardeeville, Wisconsin and will continue until the close of the school year in June.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Hoops and is a well known Spencer boy. He graduated from the Spencer High School, class of 1927, and from the Whitewater State Teachers College in 1933. He has since been engaged in his profession as a teacher, and is at present commercial Instructor at the Marshfield High School. The newly wedded pair went to Chicago on their wedding trip.
