Milan, Wisconsin – Nov. 26, 1942
The Milan Women’s Club met at the home of Mrs. Chester Bunkelman Thursday afternoon. Fourteen members and one visitor were present. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Henry Hannemann and numerous songs were sung. A motion was passed to pay for the land purchased from Mr. Erbach last year. Building plans may have to be postponed for some time due to the war restrictions on materials. Christmas gifts will be exchanged at the next meeting which will be held at the home of Mrs. Elmer Bunkelmann.
Walter Krueger and family are spending this week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Scheffler at Rice Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. William Mackoway and daughter, Bonnie Mae, Rothschild, and the Misses Mabel and Delores Miller, Wausau, are spending this week-end with the ladies’ mother, Mrs. Veronica Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eskritt drove to Minneapolis Friday to meet the former’s brother and wife, Sergt. and Mrs. Ervin Eskritt of Fort Seif, Okla., who came to Milan for several days visit. Mrs. Frank Marquardt and son, Billie, spent Saturday at the home of their daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hoernke, near Greenwood.
Robert Venzke, who is stationed with the U.S.A. at Fort Mead, N.D., is home on a two weeks furlough to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Venzke and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Denzine and Mr. and Mrs. Klinka Hargraves.
The following deer hunters left Thursday for the vicinity of Phillips, Delbert Denzine, Isadore Hackel, Albert Fasse, Elmer Bunkelmann, Henry Hannemann, Albert Hackel, John Mohr, Ferdinand Schillinger, Albert Bradow and Emil Venzke.
Mrs. Delbert Denzine is spending several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Hoernke, town of Frankfort.
Lowell E. Bengston, of Sebeka, Minn., is the Soo Line depot relief agent as John Spauling is ill.
