Arthur Franz Heinrich Manthe was born 30 Oct. 1898, in Spencer, Wisconsin to Charles ("Carl") Manthe and Wilhelmine ("Minna") Wichmann. He was Baptized 11 Dec. 1898 and confirmed 26 May 1912 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spencer, Wisconsin.  18 Jun. 1922, at the age of twenty-four, he died of a ruptured appendix and peritonitis at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin.  Three days later his body was laid to rest in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, North Spencer, Wisconsin.
