Callies, Murray G. (March 13, 1921 - January 26, 2010)
Murray G. Callies, 88, town of Wien, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 13, 1921, in the town of Wien, son of the late Herbert and Mathilda (Redmann) Callies Sr.
On August 7, 1954, he married Virginia Strathman in Colby. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2004.
Being a farmer in the town of Wien his entire life, he was also a jack-of-all-trades from welding to sheep shearing, to collecting and drying herbs for homeopathic remedies. He was a voracious reader on all subjects, especially current events and politics.
Survivors include seven daughters, Nadine Callies, town of Wien; Helen Kempf and Susan (Tommie) Davis, both of Graham, WA; Kathleen (James) Delessandro, San Rafael, CA; Carrie Callies, town of Wien; Angela (Steve) Jacobs, New Berlin; and Peggy (Perry) Martyn, Athens; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Davis and two brothers.
Memorial services were January 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the town of Wein, Reverend Jeffrey A. Lambrecht presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
