Lensmire, Calvin Matthew (February 19, 1931 - April 18, 2010)

 

Calvin Matthew Lensmire, 79, Marathon, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer.


Calvin was born February 19, 1931 in Marathon to the late John and Lillian (Cizek) Lensmire.


He is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Alvina Wenzel, who he married on December 30, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, town of Cassel.

 

Calvin, a lifelong cheesemaker, along with his brother John managed Cassel Garden Farmer’s Co-op Cheese Corporation for fifty years. During his retirement he enjoyed fishing, riding his moped, playing cards, keeping the yard beautiful, cheering on the New York Giants, and taking great pride in all his grandchildren.


In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Linda (Sylvester) Prihoda, Marathon, Patrice (Paul) Gauthier, Broomfield, Colo., Ann (Thomas) Seubert, Rozellville, Michael (Nancy) Lensmire, Plover, Louise (Paul) Hornung, Edgar, Cynthia Lensmire, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Matthew (Patricia) Lensmire , Lake Mills; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Warren (Grace) Lensmire, Stevens Point, John (Lynn) Lensmire, Marathon; and three sisters, Winifred (Virgil) Kaiser, Weston, Mae (LeRoy) Gliniecki, Wausau, and Joan (Lawrence) Wirkus, Edgar. Calvin was preceded in death by a great granddaughter.


The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marathon. Father Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
