Reckner, Virgil A. (April 17, 1936 - April 18, 2010)


Virgil A. Reckner, 74, of Spencer entered into the fullness of eternal life on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.


Virgil was born on April 17, 1936 to Emil and Marcia (Sanders) Reckner in the town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County.

 

He attended Wescott School and graduated from Stratford High School in 1955. He went to work for Roddis Plywood Corp,. then was drafted into the United States Army. After his military services, he returned to Roddis and later became employed at Felker Bros., manufacturing as a welder. He retired from Felker Bros. in 1999.


Virgil loved his cottage, fishing, snowmobiling, dancing, bowling, four wheeling and time with his family. He taught his grandchildren how to fish and took them on pontoon rides. Virgil was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan and most of all a Spencer Rocket fan. He always wanted the best for his family.


On September 9, 1961, he was united in marriage to Audrey M. Leffel at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in March Rapids, Marathon County.


Audrey survives along with their three children, Rhonda (Dave) Gano of Poplar Grove, IL, Randy (Gail) Reckner of Spencer and Rochelle (Gordon) Boos of Menomonie. He is further survived by six grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Endreas, Corey (Tamara Hurst) Endreas and Curt Endreas, Caleb and Cortni Boos and Kallie Reckner.


Virgil was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, Gene, Duane and Marvin Reckner, and his in-laws, Bernard and Gladys Leffel.


Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield with Rev. Mark A. Krueger. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Gordon and Caleb Boos, Dave Gano, Chris, Corey and Curt Endreas. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 54 of Marshfield at the church following the services.


Visitations will be on Tuesday from 4-7:30 pm at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield and again on Wednesday at the church from 10 am until time of the services.


A memorial will be established at a later date.
