Gerald C. Borchardt
73, Town of Hamburg, died Friday September 20, 2002 at Community Health Care
Wausau Hospital.
He was born January 19, 1929 in the town of Hamburg, son of the late Paul and
Elsie (Hafferman) Borchardt. On February 8, 1950 he married Irene Steidinger in
the town of Hamburg. She survives.
Gerald farmed on the Borchardt Home Farm for many years until the time of his
retirement. As an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, he served as
deacon and janitor. Gerald was on the Town of Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department
for over 25 years and was a dance supervisor at Schmidt's Ballroom. He enjoyed
playing cards, listening to polka music and was on the St. Peter Dartball league
and local area tavern leagues.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Borchardt, Town of Hamburg, two daughters,
Geraldine (Gerald) Voigt, Hamburg and their children, Heidi & Shane Voigt and
Haley (Greg) Ellenbecker, JoAnn Crum, Wausau and her daughter, Renee Crum, two
sons, Roger (Patti) Borchardt, Hamburg and their children, Brad & Kevin
Borchardt and Dale (Sharon) Borchardt, Merrill and their children, Alan,
Christine & Jamie Borchardt.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Borchardt, a
son-in-law, Glenn Crum and a sister, Rosely Hanke.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday September 23, 2002 at St. Peter
Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. Rev. Douglas Helling will officiate. Burial
will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
