Marquardt, Anita (Marriage – 6 June 1936)

Miss Anita Marquardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Marquardt of Milan and Raymond E. Tonn, Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Tonn, Milwaukee, were united in marriage at the Zeboath Lutheran church in Milwaukee on Saturday, June 6, at four o’clock in the afternoon. The Rev. Arthur Tocke officiated.

The bride’s gown was of white mousseline de soie. She wore a net veil with four rows of braid and long train and carried a shower bouquet of roses and assorted flowers. She was given in marriage by her father.

Miss Hildegard Marquardt, sister of the bride, was Maid of Honor. She wore blue mousseline de soie and carried a bouquet of Ophelia roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Norma Kallien, Sheboygan, who wore pink and carried pink roses, and Miss Ruth Miller, Milwaukee, in peach of mousseline de soie with a bouquet of yellow roses. The attendants all wore blue hats.

The best man was Paul Tonn, only brother of the groom. The ushers were Gilbert Mueller, Milwaukee, and Fred Kallien, Sheboygan.

The bride’s mother wore a dress of orchid and corsage of orchids and roses. The groom’s mother wore a dress of white trimmed in orchid and corsage of orchids and roses. The corsages were gifts from the groom to the mothers.

The church was tastefully decorated with an arch of palms, ferns and candelabra. Solo singing enhanced the ceremony.

A wedding dinner was given by the bride’s parents to immediate relatives at the Shorecrest Hotel. Immediately after, the young couple left for a trip through Door County. They will be at home at 3338 N. Palmer St., Milwaukee.

The bride spent most of her life at Milan. She is a graduate of the Stratford High School. During the past two years she has been employed at Milwaukee. Her friendly smile and courteous ways have gained for her hosts of friends who wish her happiness and prosperity. The groom, a chemical engineer, employed at Cudahay, Wis., has at different times visited here, and has made many friends for himself.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Marquardt and daughters Hildegard and Wilma and son, Billie, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Krause of Milan, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tonn of Curtiss.

After the young couple left, the guests helped Mrs. Tonn and Mr. Marquardt celebrate their joint birthdays at the home of the groom’s parents.
