Peterson, Irene (11 June 1938)
One of the loveliest of June weddings took place at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saturday, June 11, 1938, at 2 p.m., when Vilas Luepke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Luepke, was united in marriage to Miss Irene Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels A Peterson, Rev. A. C. Stapel officiating.
The bride was attended by her bridesmaids, Miss Margaret Foth, Chicago, and Miss Bernice Alexander, Rhinelander, cousins of the groom, and Mrs. Max Nigl, sister of the bride as matron of honor. The best men were Leonard Luepke, brother of the groom, and George Peterson, brother of the bride. The flower girl was Virginia Nigl, niece of the bride.
The bride wore a gown of white lace over white satin made on princess lines with a train and a long veil. She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and white carnations. The bridesmaids wore dresses of yellow and green net respectively, made in redington style. The matron of honor also wore a redingote made of pink net. Each wore a wrist corsage of roses. The flower girl wore an ankle length dress of white organdy with pink sash and carried a basket of mixed flowers.
The bridal party marched into the church to the strains of the march by Lohengren, the bride on the arm of her father. 120 guests witnessed the ceremony.
A wedding supper followed at the home of the bride. The home was decorated with a white wedding bell and streamers of white, pink, yellow and green. A large wedding cake formed the table center-piece with candles at either end.
The occasion was also the 25th wedding anniversary of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Luepke. The young couple will make their home with the groom's parents for the present.
