Emmel, Dorothy Vivian (Marriage – 26 Aug. 1950)
On Saturday, August 26, the birthday anniversary date of the groom's father, Miss Dorothy Vivian Emmel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Emmel of route 3, Marshfield, and Laverne E. Kibbel, route 1 Spencer, were married in a ceremony performed at 1:30 o'clock in Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, by Rev. Randolph Mueller, pastor.
For her wedding the bride given in marriage by her brother, Edward Emmel, was attired in a white satin gown. The skirt of which ended in a long lace-edged train. Her full length veil of illusion edge with lace, was caught to the crown decorated with rhinestones and four lace heart white satin ribbons were used to tie her cascade bouquet composed of pink roses and white gladioli.
Mrs. Milen Kibbel, Spencer a sister-in-law of the groom was matron of honor and Miss Rona Alice Karau, Milwaukee, cousin of the groom and Sally Emmel, Marshfield, sister of the bride were bridesmaids. They all chose identical styled gowns of pink orchard and yellow marquisette over taffeta respectively.
Completing their ensemble were matching flower headpieces. The Matron of honor carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white gladioli while the bridesmaids each carried lavender and yellow gladioli.
Milen Kibbel served his brother as best man. His cousin, Paul Karau, Milwaukee and Vernon Emmel, a brother of the bride were groomsmen. Kenneth Page, the groom's cousin, ushered.
Karen Myrtle Kibble, the grooms' niece, wore a white nylon frock which featured ace ruffles on the skirt and yoke. She carried a crocheted basket filled with garden flowers. Larry August Kibble a nephew of the groom carried the rings on a white satin pillow.
The mothers of the bridal couple both attended the service in black dresses that were highlighted with pink accessories and corsages.
A supper was served for the bridal party at 4:30 o'clock at the home of the groom which was also the scene of the reception for relatives & friends from 6 to 9 o'clock. The house was decorated with streamers and garden flowers.
A dance in the Spencer Municipal Hall concluded the day's celebration.
The newlyweds are home to friends on a farm east of here where the groom is engaged in dairying and poultry raising.
Guests attended the wedding from Stratford, Wonewoc, Milwaukee, Edgar, and Marshfield.
