Lange, Elmer W. (12 Mar. 1920 – 6 July 2005)

Elmer W. Lange, 85, of Marshfield, and formerly of Wausau, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at the Marshfield Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in the Town of McMillan in Marathon County. The Rev. Anthony L. Straseske will officiate. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield.

The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Elmer was born March 12, 1920, in Wausau, the son of Emil and Emma (Zimmerman) Lange. He was lastly employed at Marathon Box Company in Wausau, until his retirement. After retirement he provided home care for the elderly. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

On March 1, 1952, he and Geraldine L. Tesch were united in marriage in Wausau. She died July 22, 1979. He also married June E. Altmann Fischer on Nov. 27, 1976, in Marshfield. She died July 1, 2002.

Elmer lived in Wausau until 1976. After his marriage to June he moved to Marshfield, where he resided until the present time.

He is survived by four daughters, Shelly (Terry) Schardt of Oronoco, Minn., Jackie (Bob) Peter of Wausau, Kathy (Michael) Gross of Minnetonka, Minn., Kay (Les) Rice of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and a stepdaughter, Susan Mannigel of Granton. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is further survived by five sisters, Esther (Bill) Morris of Antelope, Calif., Dorothy (Lloyd) Elliott of Klamath Falls, Ore., Grace Lange of Clearwater, Fla., Margaret (Robert) Berner of San Rafael, Calif., Verona (William) Morse of Southfield, Mich., and a brother, Milton (Kathy) Lange of Lancaster, N.Y.

Besides his wives he was predeceased by his parents; twin daughters, Jean and Joan and a son, Dale, all in infancy; brothers, Arthur and Elroy; and a sister, Erma Ridgeway.
