Dunbar, Ida (9 Apr. 1921 – 24 May 2006)

Ida Dunbar, 85, Spencer, died on Wednesday, May 24, at Colonial Center in Colby. She was born April 9, 1921 in Brantwood, the daughter of John and Minnie (Krahl) Hertlein. She was married to Frank Dunbar on June 3, 1939. They resided in Joliet, Illinois, until 1941 when they moved to Brantwood where they farmed for 16 years. In 1957 they moved to Spencer and continued farming until the time of Frank’s death in 1970. Ida also worked at Weyerhauser and Wick Building systems.

She is survived by five children: Frank (Pat), of Spencer, Ronald (Bonnie) , of Phillips, Ivy (Rollis) Weister, of Spencer, Jody (Ted) Metcalf, of Marshfield, and Donna (Chuck) Wenzel, of Spencer; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Dawn) Hertlein, of Phillips; and a sister, Betty Fiala-Kozak, of Phillips and a sister-in-law, Violet Dunbar, of Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1970; an infant son, Francis; four brothers, Clarence, Earl, Harry and infant James Hertlein; and a sister, Norma Staroba. Funeral services will be held on Sat. May 27, at 3 p.m. at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips with Pastor Terry Sellers officiating. Interment will be in the Emery Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of services.

The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips is assisting the family with local arrangements.
