Oelrich, Arnold G. (April 13, 1926 - June 25, 2011)

Arnold G. Oelrich, 85, Spencer, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 29, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Spencer. Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiated.

Arnold Oelrich was born on April 13, 1926, in the town of Brighton, the son of Charles and Alvina (Luepke) Oelrich.

He attended Spencer Area Country School. On July 1, 1948, he married Muriel Hopfensperger.

The couple operated the family dairy farm and he was also formerly employed with a number of businesses, including St Croix Fish Pole Factory, Pathfinder Homes, Dickman Homes, and Burnett Transportation as a school bus driver and trucker. He enjoyed the outdoors, his animals, tinkering, and riding his four-wheelers and tractors. He especially enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He was very close with his family and enjoyed everyone's visits. He will always be remembered for his smile and calm ways.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel, Spencer; five children, Roger (Sherrie) Oelrich, Whitehall, Sandra (David) Kilty, Spencer, Douglas (Janice) Oelrich, Stratford, Michele (Daniel) Foth, Marshfield, and Jeremy Oelrich, Spencer; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Sienicki and Dora Huber; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alvina Oelrich; one son, Scott; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kaye; an infant granddaughter; two brothers, Alfred and Verner; and three sisters Arvilla, Erma, and Hilda.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Marshfield Dialysis Team, Three Oaks staff, and Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital for the care given to Arnold. The family would like to express their gratitude toward relatives and friends for all their help and support for these many months, and especially thank Pastor Rebekah for her many prayers and comforting words.
