Anna Putnam (12 Feb 1875 - 8 Sep 1959)

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Putnam, 84, were held at 2:00 p. m. today from Salem Evangelical United Brethren church, with the Rev. Harold Welch, pastor, officiating at the rites.

Mrs. Putnam died at 6:30 a. m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the HavenetRest Home, Owen. In frail health for some time, her condition worsened progressively during recent months and death was attributed, to heart failure.

Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery following the services for which Mrs. Jerome Rankl was organist and Mrs. Frank Rauscher sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Otto Genrich, Ernest Mehner, John Rau, Richard Schmidt, Sr., Frank Stoiber and Cyril Decker. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Genrich, long-time friends of the deceased, who is survived by no immediate family, arranged for the funeral, and it was directed by Fuchsgruber Funeral Service.

Mrs. Putnam was born Anna Metzger Feb. 12, 1875, in Sheboygan. She came to this village with her parents when about 12 years old. She and George A. Putnam were married here Dec. 23, 1895, and resided here during the early years of their marriage. In 1914, they moved to a farm at Redville, north of Withee, and operated it until 1942. They retired that year and moved back to the village.

Mr. Putnam died Nov. 17, 1947. She continued to reside in the home they bought here until about five years ago, when she moved to the Owen rest home because of ill health.

The Putnams had no children, and the surviving nearest relative is Mrs. Laura Kennedy of Sheboygan. Two brothers, George and Otto Metzger preceded, her in death.
