Anna Putnam (12 Feb 1875 - 8 Sep
1959)
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Putnam, 84, were held at 2:00 p. m.
today from Salem Evangelical United Brethren church, with the Rev. Harold Welch,
pastor, officiating at the rites.
Mrs. Putnam died at 6:30 a. m. Monday,
Sept. 8, at the HavenetRest Home, Owen. In frail health for some time, her
condition worsened progressively during recent months and death was attributed,
to heart failure.
Burial was in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery following
the services for which Mrs. Jerome Rankl was organist and Mrs. Frank Rauscher
sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Otto
Genrich, Ernest Mehner, John Rau, Richard Schmidt, Sr., Frank Stoiber and Cyril
Decker. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Genrich, long-time friends of the deceased, who is
survived by no immediate family, arranged for the funeral, and it was directed
by Fuchsgruber Funeral Service.
Mrs. Putnam was born Anna Metzger Feb.
12, 1875, in Sheboygan. She came to this village with her parents when about 12
years old. She and George A. Putnam were married here Dec. 23, 1895, and resided
here during the early years of their marriage. In 1914, they moved to a farm at
Redville, north of Withee, and operated it until 1942. They retired that year
and moved back to the village.
Mr. Putnam died Nov. 17, 1947. She
continued to reside in the home they bought here until about five years ago,
when she moved to the Owen rest home because of ill health.
The Putnams
had no children, and the surviving nearest relative is Mrs. Laura Kennedy of
Sheboygan. Two brothers, George and Otto Metzger preceded, her in death.
