William McKenna, age
71, passed away Sunday, February 2, at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Francis Hospital in
Santa Barbara. The cause of death was a stroke.
William McKenna was born
July 14, 1893 at Greenwood. He was married to Annabelle Moorhead on November 26,
1919 at Greenwood, who preceded him in death on July 12, 1955.
He farmed
in the Greenwood area until 1950 when he retired and moved to the city of Loyal.
About one and a half months agohe went to visit a sister, where he became ill
and passed away. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a member
of the Holy Name Society.
Mr. McKenna is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Marvin (Agnes) Hardinger, Marshfield; Mrs. Douglas O’Donnell (Mary) Marshfield;
two sons, David McKenna, Loyal and Rev. Michael McKenna of LaCrosse; also two
sisters, Mrs. Fred Halle, Waukegan; and Miss Martha McKenna of Santa Barbara,
California. Two brothers, Adolph of Portland, Oregon; and John, also of
Portland. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Besides his wife,
he was preceded in death by five children and one sister.
The body of Mr.
McKenna will lie in state at the Myre Funeral Home beginning Thursday morning.
The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church,
where a Solemn Requiem High Mass will be held, with the Rev. Michael McKenna,
assistant pastor of St. Thomas Moor of LaCrosse officiating.
Burial will
be in the Catholic Cemetery at Greenwood. A general rosary will be held on
Thursday at 8 p.m.
