Schwarze, Bethel (3
September 1889 - 21 November 1968)
Mrs. Bethel Schwarze, 79, of
Greenwood, died November 21 in Neillsville.
Mrs. Schwarze, the former
Bethel Barkley, daughter of John and Viola (Estes) Barkley, was born September
3, 1889, in Sandusky, and came to Greenwood with her parents when she was a
small child. She was married to Herman R. Schwarze in 1910. They lived in East
St. Louis and Champaign, Ill. Dr. Schwarze died in October, 1933. Mrs. Schwarze
returned to Greenwood after his death and resided here until September of this
year, when she became a resident of Memorial Home in Neillsville. She suffered a
stroke on November 15. Mrs. Schwarze was a member of the Greenwood order of
Eastern Star. There are no immediate survivors.
Funeral services were
held Saturday from the Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Booher, pastor of Grace
United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Durward, Orlin, Ewald and Alvin Schwarze, and Alvin Brick.
Gary Schultz sang “Be Still My Soul” and “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” accompanied
on the organ by Mrs. Carl Booher.
Those from out of town who attended
were: Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Somers and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Ring and daughter,
Diane, of Tomah, and Mr. and Mrs. Durward Schwarze of Granton.
