Greenwood (28 November 1968)
The senior citizens of
the Greenwood area met last Thursday evening at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
After a short meeting the following program was presented: a medley of nursery
rhymes by Mrs. Norma Haemer, Mrs. Betty Schultz and Miss Helga Anderson; a duet
by Mrs. Henry Harder and Mrs. Pierce Owens; and a duet by Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold
and Mrs. Stanley Straughn, with Mrs Ellen Hughes as accompanist. Debbie Myhrwold
gave a talk and showed slides of Santiago, Chile, where she spent three months
as an International Exchange student. The birthday song was sung for those
having birthdays in November. Games were played and prizes awarded. A lunch was
served by the Hillcrest Homemakers club of Owen. The next meeting will be Dec.
19.
The Happy Hustler Homemakers met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs.
John Zepaltas, Sr., Mrs. Hugh Severson presided. Seven cakes were baked for the
birthdays of residents at the Clark County Home for the Aged since the last
meeting. Miss Louise Keiner read a letter from the Retarded children’s
Association. Mrs. Zepaltas gave a safety talk. The “Coffee Break with Brooks”
was read. A discussion was held on “Pennies for Friendship.” Mrs. Harlan Brux
gave a report on the fall council meeting. The program for the year was planned
and project leaders were appointed. The lesson on “Working smarter instead of
harder” was presented by Mrs. Brux and Mrs. Zepaltas. The next meeting will be a
Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Harlan Brux on December 26. Fifty-cent gifts
will be exchanged and each member will bring two dozen cookies to pack boxes for
shut-ins.
