Selma Wolf (18 Jul 1861 - 1950)
The Rev. Fred W. Kollath, pastor, officiated at funeral services for Mrs.
Selma Wolf, 69, at
Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church here (Dorchester,
Clark Co., WI) at 1:30 p. m. Monday.
Albert Boxrucker, Arnold Ruprich,
Edward Schwartz, Arthur Bruesewitz, Rudolph Tauchen, and Donald Wolf, all
grandsons of the deceased, served as pallbearers, and burial was in the Peace
Cemetery at the north edge of the village.
Mrs. Wolf, who had made her
home with a daughter, Mrs. Emma Tauchen, for the past thirteen months, had been
in failing health for about that length of time, and succumbed to a stroke at
1:30 a. m. Friday at her daughter's home.
Selma Bertha Vetterline was
born July 18, 1861, in Ruhsdorf-Sachsen, Germany, and on Jan. 9, 1882, married
Bernard Wolf. The young couple immigrated to the United States the same year,
and settled first at Beaver Dam, then moving to a farm in the Town of Mayville
in 1883, where she resided until moving to Dorchester in 1927, living here until
her final illness. Mr. Wolf preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wolf was a member
of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church and of its Women's Guild, in both
of which she was active until the advancing years curtailed her activities.
Surviving are three sons, Carl Wolf, Rockglen, Canada; Ed Wolf and William
Wolf, Dorchester; five daughters, Mrs. John (Ida) Schwartz, Colby; Mrs. Anton
(Ella) Boxrucker, Medford; Mrs. Herman (Anna) Wilke, Mrs. Emma Tauchen,
Dorchester, and Mrs. A. C. (Elsa) Bruesewitz, Auburndale. Thirty-two
grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren also survive.
Three
children died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Hulda) Ruprich died in 1936.
A brother and sister also preceded her in death.
