August Fred Schmidt (20 Sept 1934 – 1951)
August Fred Schmidt, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmidt, died in the polio isolation ward of St. Mary’s
hospital in Wausau about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. He had suffered the
attack of infantile paralysis that caused his death for about 10 days, and was
early taken to the hospital, is the only polio fatality of the area this year,
and almost an isolated case of the disease, no other having come to attention
during the past summer.
Funeral services for the lad will be held from
Peace Evangelical church here (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) tomorrow (Friday) at 2
p.m., with the Rev. Fred W. Kollath, pastor officiating at the rites. Burial
will be in the peace cemetery. Fuchsgruber Funeral Service has charge of
arrangements, and the deceased lies in state at the funeral parlor here from
where he will be taken to the church at noon tomorrow.
August Schmidt
was born Sept. 20, 1934, and had resided all his life at the family home in the
Town of Little Black, several miles northwest of the village. His parents
survive, as do three brothers and a sister.
