August Fred Schmidt (20 Sept 1934 – 1951)

August Fred Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmidt, died in the polio isolation ward of St. Mary’s hospital in Wausau about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. He had suffered the attack of infantile paralysis that caused his death for about 10 days, and was early taken to the hospital, is the only polio fatality of the area this year, and almost an isolated case of the disease, no other having come to attention during the past summer.

Funeral services for the lad will be held from Peace Evangelical church here (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Fred W. Kollath, pastor officiating at the rites. Burial will be in the peace cemetery. Fuchsgruber Funeral Service has charge of arrangements, and the deceased lies in state at the funeral parlor here from where he will be taken to the church at noon tomorrow.

August Schmidt was born Sept. 20, 1934, and had resided all his life at the family home in the Town of Little Black, several miles northwest of the village. His parents survive, as do three brothers and a sister.
