Schlegelmilch, Bertha (1882 - December
1968)
Only a portion of this obit was available on my copy, but I gleaned
information from her husband’s obituary.
Mrs. Charles J. Schlegelmilch,
the former Bertha Goette, passed away recently. She was married to Charles J.
Schlegelmilch, March 2, 1905, in Merrimac.
The family engaged in farming
in Prairie du Sac before moving to Clark County in 1917. They operated a farm on
the Pleasant Ridge for many years. In 1962, they retired and moved into
Neillsville. Mr. Schlegelmilch died in 1966.
Surviving are four
daughters, Mrs. Emil (Alice) Casner of Arpin, Miss Mildred Schlegelmilch of
Neillsville, Mrs. Albert (Hazel) Zank of Neillsville and Mrs. Richard (Esther)
Clark of Mesa, Ariz.; and a son, Norbert Schlegelmilch of Neillsville. Other
survivors are a sister, Mrs. Ella Neu of Prairie du Sac; a brother, Oscar Goette
of Merrimac; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
(Note: The following was provided by Bertha's granddaughter)
Bertha Schlegelmilch was born
in 1882. She died the same year when I was born.
She was my grandmother. My name is Kristine Woolner ( Schlegelmilch).
