Ruth (Laughlin) Scheel (28 Sep 1892 – 1953)
Mrs. Ruth Scheel, 61, Madison, formerly Marshfield resident, died Monday at
12 noon in the Divine Saviour Hospital, at Portage. Her death was caused by a
heart ailment.
The body will repose at the Hansen Funeral Home beginning
this evening. A general rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the
funeral home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. John’s
Catholic Church. The Rev. John McGinley, Stevens Point, will officiate and
burial will take place in the Hillside cemetery.
Mrs. Scheel, formerly
Ruth Laughlin, was born Sept. 28, 1892 in Custer and received her education
there. She lived in Marshfield for 15 years and subsequently lived in
Neillsville, Stevens Point, Milwaukee and Madison. Mrs. Scheel was a member of
the Catholic Veteran Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Gold Star
Mothers.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Al Johnson, Sherman Oaks,
Calif., and James Sullivan, Pittsburgh, Penn.; two brothers, Dan Laughlin,
Australia, and Edward Laughlin, Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Herman
Kronschnabl, Crandon, and Mrs. John Donhard, Madison; and six grandchildren. One
son died in service, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
