Daines, Chester (27 June 1890 - 29 December 1968)
Funeral services were held at 1:30 January 2, 1969, for Chester Daines, 78, who
died of pneumonia at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley on December 29, 1968.
The Rev. David Fuller conducted the service. Burial was made in the Butler
Cemetery.
Mr. Daines was born in Vernon County on June 27, 1890. He
married Anna Brockley of Valley on December 31, 1913. As a young man he worked
as a buttermaker in Valley and Livingston. He also worked for 10 years in
Wisconsin Rapids at the Kraft Cold Storage Company. The family farmed in the
Thorp area for about 35 years. Mr. Daines retired two years ago. He served on
the Clark County Board of Supervisors and was a member of the conservation
committee for 10 years.
Survivors are his wife; and five children: Mrs.
Clarence (Sadie) Pavloski of Wisconsin Rapids, Ronald of Thorp, Tom of
Milwaukee, Bob of Yorba Linda, Calif., and James of Menomonie. Also surviving
are four brothers, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His grandsons
served as pallbearers.
