Olson, Henry O. (10 August 1878 -
3 January 1969)
Henry O. Olson, 90, a lifetime resident of Greenwood,
died Friday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Turnquist, following a stroke. Funeral services were held Monday from Our
Savior’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiating. Burial was made
in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Olson was born August 10, 1878, in
Greenwood, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Olson. He was married June 27, 1906, to
Ella Elenora Soefker in Greenwood. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1956.
They farmed until the fall of 1948, when they retired and moved into the
city of Greenwood. Mr. Olson had served as school treasurer and Town of Warner
supervisor. Since the death of his wife in 1958 Mr. Olson had made his home with
his children. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
He is
survived by four daughters, Mrs. Sophie Crowley of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Arthur
(Leona) Turnquist, Mrs. Carl (Evelyn) Turnquist, and Mrs. Orville (Lucille)
Oswald, all of Greenwood; two sons, Leo and Daniel, of Greenwood; 34
grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Henry O.
Olson were held January 6 from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers,
all grandsons, were: Emory Crowley, Leonard Olson, Allan Turnquist, Chester
Turnquist, Gerald Olson and Gary Oswald. Rev. and Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold sang,
“Jesus Lover of my Soul” and “In Heavenly Love Abiding,” accompanied on the
organ by Mrs. Don Warner.
Attending the funeral from away were Mrs.
Sophie Crowley and Mr. and Mrs. Emory Crowley of Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Ronald
Woodford of Jim Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Meyer of Cameron; Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Turnquist and family; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lamovec and family of Milwaukee; Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Crowley, Mrs. Darrell Edie and Gerald Olson of St. Paul; Mr. and
Mrs. Dennis Turnquist of Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Solberg and Mr. and Mrs.
Oscar Solberg of Elk Mound; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Oswald of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs.
John Widmer and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Feldman of Owen; Robert Turnquist of Stevens
Point; Richard Olson, William Turnquist and Eugene Turnquist of La Crosse;
Edward Turnquist of Madison; Mrs. Myron Miller of Kenosha and other relatives
and friends from the surrounding area.
