Willis Clinton Boardman was born 30 May 1854 in Pittsburg, Allegheny, PA. At the time of his birth, his father, Benoni John Boardman (18 Nov 1814, Otsego, NY-26 Oct 1887, Cascade Twp., Olmsted Co., MN) was forty years old and his mother, Olive Thompson (1817-6 Jul 1897, Cascade Twp., Olmsted, MN) was thirty-seven years old.

He was married to Mary Ann Kegal (27 Feb 1859, St. Paul, MN-26 Jun 1921) She was the daughter of Peter Kegal and Catherine Smith and they are recorded as neighbors to the Boardmans on the 1875 Olmsted County, Minnesota census. They were the parents of Violet Myrtle Boardman (Oct 1876, MN-?); Vedell Boardman (28 Nov 1879, Pine Island, MN-27 Jun 1965, Stanley, WI); Vern Everett Boardman (3 May 1882, Thorp, Clark Co., WI-31 Jan 1940, Stanley, WI); Ervin Seneca Boardman (26Feb 1884, Thorp, WI-19 Oct 1952); Elizabeth Boardman (Aug 1887, Thorp, WI-1905); Cora Boardman (Sep 1889, Thorp, WI-?); Gertrude Boardman (1891, WI-?); Nettie Boardman, (Aug 1894-?); Jeanette Boardman, (5 Aug 1895, Thorp, WI-19 Dec 1961)

HOUSE FIRE

Monday morning at Eidsvold the home of W. Boardman was totally destroyed by fire. Mr. Boardman was engaged in lighting a fire in the stove when a lighted lamp setting near, exploded, throwing oil around the floor, which immediately caught fire and the flames spread so rapidly that the family were obliged to escape from windows robed only in their night clothes. The house was soon enveloped in flames and contents was all lost. This left the unfortunate family in rather destitute circumstances but the kind assistance of a few friends soon made them comfortable.

Boardman, Vedell (28 NOV 1879 - 26 DEC 1965)

Vedell Boardman, 86, Stanley, died at Victory Memorial Hospital Sunday.

Mr. Boardman was born Nov. 28, 1879 at Pine Island, Minn. He moved to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) with his parents when a child, later going to Eidsvold in 1902 to reside on a farm. On Dec. 24, 1906, he was married to Nellie Ellen Clark at Thorp. Three and one-half months ago he entered the Gilman Rest Home and had been a patent at Victory Hospital since October.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie; one son, Marcus, La Crosse; four daughters, Mrs. Marshall Anderson, Port Richie, Fla., Mrs. George Smasal, Stanley, Mrs. Clarence Paul, Portland, ore., and Mrs. Joseph Foster, Jump River; and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Stanley, with the Rev. Edmund Cramer officiating. Burial was in the Eidsvold Cemetery.
