Iva Mae (Lucia) Peterson (3 Nov
1890 – 1950)
Funeral services for Mrs. Axel Peterson, 60, were held from
the Westboro Methodist church at 2 p.m. today, with the Rev. Henry Baubilik,
pastor, officiating at the rites. Interment was in Mt. Olive cemetery, Westboro,
and pallbearers were William Westburg, Victor Ingstrum, Oscar Clarin, Adolph
Hanson, Gus Anderson, and I.P. Kiger, all of Westboro.
The deceased lay
in state Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday at the Peterson home here (Dorchester,
Clark Co., WI), where the Order of Eastern Star, Medford chapter, of which she
had been a member, held services Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Peterson had
suffered from diabetes and a heart condition for several years, and died at home
Monday at 12:30 A.M.
Iva Mae Lucia was born Nov. 3 1890, in Westboro,
where she was reared. She and Axel Peterson were wed at Medford Nov. 20, 1909,
and resided at Westboro until 1942, when they moved to Medford. She taught
school for a number of years in the Westboro-Rib Lake area. They lived in
Medford until 1947 when they moved here to take employment with the Tri-County
Fur Farm, and for the past couple years Mr. Peterson has been with the grocery
department of the local co-op.
Survivors include her widower; a daughter,
Mrs. Owen (Joyce) Hanson, and two grandchildren. A brother and two sisters, John
Lucia, Westboro; Mrs. Edwina Whitcomb, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. Emma Lucia,
Marquette, Mich., also survive.
