Michael Schneider (27 Sep 1850 – 25 Jan 1946)
Funeral services for
Michael Schneider, 95, for many years a resident of the Dorchester community,
who died Jan 25 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John
Bremer Sr., were held from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev.
F.H. Sprengler, pastor of St. Peter’s, officiated at the rites and burial was
made in Dorchester memorial cemetery.
Michael Schneider was born in
Chinow, Roddam province, Poland, Sept. 29, 1850. He and Ephrosena Neuman were
married Feb. 1, 1873, being one of the longest-married couples in Wisconsin.
Three children were born to them, two of whom survive their father.
Mr.
and Mrs. Schneider came to the United States in August, 1893, and settled at
Gilett, where they lived until 1902, when they moved to this vicinity. They
lived on the Fierke farm until 1915, when they moved to their place, south of
the village. Five years ago they moved to the Abbotsford community to make their
home with their son-in-law and daughter.
Surviving the nonagenarian are
his widow, a son, William Schneider, Medford, one daughter, Mrs. John Bremer
Sr., Abbotsford; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. One son, Jacob, died in
infancy.
