In regard to the community movement that is being
discussed so much of late through the columns of the Times and the Press, we
wish to say that when the leading merchants of a place like Neillsville show the
good spirit in a movement as they do in this community work, it is bound to be a
success. As they are not only men of level-headed ideas, but men of honor and
the best of principle, worthy of the respect and confidence of the people far
and near---men who believe and act in harmony. While Greenwood, Loyal, Granton
and other towns seem to be on the square and want to push a good thing along, it
begins to look to us as though the county seat of old Clark County would yet be
one of Wisconsin’s business centers. Harmony and success go hand in hand, the
more we pay out to a just cause, the more we can expect in return. If we expect
to have any flowers strewn in our path through this life, we have first got to
encourage people to cultivate them. The only way to remove the obstacles that
daily slip in between us and success is for us all to get behind them and all
push at the same time. The biggest obstacles that stand in the way of the
average business man today is his own greed and selfishness, and the sooner he
gets those out of his way, the sooner he will have his business on a downhill
pull.
Willis Armitage said the farmers this year have no excuse to be
idle after they look over their corn field.
If Verna Gergen don’t use
profane language, he might be able to tell us of a place in the hayfield where
some people would have strong thoughts of it.
