East Lynn (12 Aug 1915)

James Quicker, the inventor of boot-jacks, who was about ready to apply for a pension at the patent office, was compelled to sell his instrument to G. Guk, the East Lynn surgeon, when an accident befell one of the ball players Sunday that required medical attention. With the aid of the above mentioned article, a shoe-maker’s awl, one ball of binder twine, seven stitches were required to bring the patient back to a normal condition, but at present writing he is well on the road to recovery.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lichte a son last week. Mother and little one are reported as doing well. Fred also passed through the ordeal with flying colors and a smile. Cigars, please.

A number of neighbors helped Louis Sternitzky celebrate his birthday Saturday evening. All enjoyed a good time.

Alvin, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Deitrich, had the misfortune to break his arm while at play with other children.

The little dAughter of Jim Quicker and wife was christened in the Lutheran Church of Fremont Sunday. The little lady will hereafter go by the name of Esther.

Fred Grade left last Friday for a short visit with relatives at Milwaukee and other points.

Emil Lindow is having the foundation laid for a granary and machine shed.
