Peter Leonhard (22 Dec 1885 - 24 Jul 1973)
F(rank) Peter Leonard, 87, of
Marshfield, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he had
been a patient for the past week.
A Concelebrated Mass will be offered at
10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiating will be the Rev.
Arthur Heindl and the Rev. Francis Heindl, nephews of the deceased. Burial will
follow in the Gate of Heaven cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Rembs Chapel, where a Christian Mothers rosary service will be
held at 3 p.m. Thursday and a parish vigil service at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Leonard was born in Marshfield Dec. 22, 1885, and attended St. John’s
Parochial School, Marshfield, and St. Joseph’s Parochial School, Hewitt. For
more than 45 years he had worked as a carpenter in the Marshfield, Hewitt, and
Dorchester areas.
He was married Oct. 31, 1911, at Hibbing, Minn., to the
former Marie Tepolt, who preceded him in death Feb. 8, 1962. They continued to
live in Hibbing until 1921, when they came to Marshfield. The couple had
celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1961.
Survivors include a
daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Rhodes, Marshfield; two brothers, Fred Leonard,
Marshfield, and Edward Leonard, Waukesha; a sister, Mrs. Emma Gannon, Vancouver,
Wash.; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in
death by a son and three sisters.
