The 500-card club was entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Rita
Stewart. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. George Grabara and Mrs. William Schlough.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jollivette and family were New Year’s Eve dinner guests at
the James Metzke home.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wagner and family spent from
Thursday until Sunday in Cleveland with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wagner.
Miss Janet Brux returned to Deerfield, Ill., Wednesday after a visit at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux.
Mrs. Kathryn Ivey and
sons, Charles Ivey of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Jim Ivey and family of
Minneapolis, spent the weekend with relatives in Eagle River.
Holiday
guests at the Leroy Metcalf home were Mrs. James Metcalf, Mrs. Ben Dallman, Mr.
and Mrs. Allen Dallman and daughter, Rhonda, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dallman, Miss
Carol Metcalf of Sheboygan and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gruenke and son of
Minneapolis.
Mrs. Ella Schwarze is a patient at Memorial Hospital in
Neillsville since December 30.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lamonica and family have
returned to Rolling Meadows, Ill., after spending the holidays with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Dyre, and other relatives.
Mrs. Carl Stabnow and Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Syth and family were New Year’s guests at the Robert Genett
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart spent a week in Rochester, Minn., at
the Everett Humke home.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kesler of Manawa and Mr. and
Mrs. Harlan Brux spent New Year’s Eve at the Mike Kowieski home in Auburndale.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gregorich, Sr., are on a trip to the west coast for
a visit with relatives.
A group of young people were entertained New
Year’s Eve at the Harlan Brux home. Classmates celebrated the birthday of Ray
Toburen.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thompson and daughters, who left Greenwood 12
years ago to reside in Stoughton, spent several days with friends here. Mr.
Thompson is vice president of the high school in Monona.
Mrs. Carl
Stabnow received word last week of the death of her brother-in-law, Herbert
Koenig of Milwaukee. Funeral services were held January 2.
Mrs. Maud
Flatz who spent the holidays with her brother, Don Warner and family, left for
San Diego, Calif., for a visit at the home of her son, Delmain.
The
Esther Circle of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will meet this (Thursday)
afternoon at the home of Mrs. Clarence Verhulst.
Relatives and friends
were entertained Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Awe to celebrate the
birthday of Mr. Awe. The young folks were taken on an old-fashioned,
horse-drawn, sleigh ride.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Reineking and family of
Colby attended the Gregorich-Meinholdt wedding Saturday.
Linda Verhulst,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Verhulst, has returned to River Falls, where she
attends the university.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Vollrath and family have
returned after spending the holidays vacationing in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Verhulst entertained at their home New Year’s Day in celebration of the
15th birthday of their daughter, Cheryl. Guests were the grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Verhulst of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Resch of Marshfield;
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Verhulst and family of Loyal; Miss Anna Bohmann, Mrs. Dorothy
Heinzen and Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Laidlow and daughters of Marshfield.
Mrs. Robert Stewart has been a patient at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville since
January 3.
Judith and Dale Brux returned to Stevens Point Sunday to
resume studies at the university, after spending their vacation at the home of
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux. Other holiday guests at the Brux home
were Mr. and Mrs. John Horton of Madison and Miss Janet Brux of Deerfield.
Guests Saturday at the harry Plunkett home were Miss Alice Plunkett and
Joseph and Ellsworth Plunkett of Tomah.
Recent guests at the Ignatz
Koschak home were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bobb and family of Watertown and Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Parkel of Madison.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson were guests
Sunday at the Ernst Molle home in Unity.
