Staszcuk, John (9 JAN 1889 - 20? JAN 1965)
Funeral services were held
for John Staszcuk, age 76, of Gilman at St. peter and Paul Catholic Church on
Saturday, Jan. 23. Rev. J. Dzurko officiated and Rev. J. Hurley of Chicago was
assistant. Burial was made at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
John Stasczuk was
born in Poland Jan. 9, 1889 and came to this country at the age of 14. He farmed
near Gilman until 1946, when he retired and moved to town.
He was married
to K. Nicoski at Gilman in 1914. They observed their golden wedding in august
1964.
He was a member of St. peter and Paul catholic Church, Holy Name
Society, P.N.A. Lodge and he was a director of Polish National Alliance in the
Gilman area.
Serving as pallbearers were the following grandsons: John,
Ronnie, Jimmy, Bobby, Staszcuk, and John Slipek.
Surviving Mr. Staszcuk,
besides his wife, are four sons, henry of West chicago, Ill., Casey, Chicago,
Ill., Wally of Wheaton, Ill.; Stanley of Eau Claire, and two daughters
(Victoria) Mrs. Wm. Christen of Lombard, Ill., and (Theresa) Mrs. Ray Slipek of
Thorp. Also 22 grandchildren and one great-grandson, along with 2 brothers,
Walter, Lansing, Mich., and Stanley in Poland. Two brothers and a sister
preceded him in death.
Friends and relatives attending were from Lansing,
Mich., Duluth, Minn., Chicago, Ill., West Chicago, Ill., Lombard, Ill., Wheaton,
Ill., Berwyn, Ill., Rockford, Ill., Melrose Park, Ill., Superior, Stevens Point,
Shawano, Eau Claire, Medford, Thorp and Lublin.
