Baldwin, Mr./Mrs. P. (Gold - 26 DEC 1964)

Mr. and Mrs. P. Baldwin (Baldeschwiler) of 3606 Farmington Road, Stockton, Calif., were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. A reception in the Scottish Rite Temple, Stockton, was attended by more than 200 relatives and friends.

The Baldwins were married in Modesto, Calif. on Dec. 26, 1914. They had planned to be married Christmas Day, but Mrs. Baldwin, the former Lorena A. Stracker of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., did not get there in time. Bill Baldwin was also born in Wisconsin and lived on a farm south of Thorp.

When Mr. Baldwin first went to California he worked for the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. from 1910 until his retirement in 1952, when he was the superintendent of overhead lines in the five county area between Merced and Gait, Calif.

The couple lived in Modesto, Calif. from 1914 to 1940, when he was transferred to Stockton, Calif.

Baldwin is a past master of the Modesto Masonic Lodge and his wife is secreatary of an Amaranth group.

He also is an amateur radio operator and helped with emergency communications during the Christmas week floods in northern California.

The Baldwins have two sons, both employed by PG & E., Everett of Stockton, and William of Modesto, Calif., and one grandchild.

The Baldwins have been subscribers of "The Thorp Courier" for fifty years and say they are always looking anxiously for it each week. The "Courier" joins their friends in wishing them continued happiness.
