Marshfield Man Dies; Was Found of News
Adam Paulus Passes Away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednesday This Week
Adam Paulus, a brother of George Paulus, who until very recently was a
resident of Wisconsin Rapids, died suddenly on Wednesday morning at St. Joseph’s
Hospital in Marshfield following a stroke of paralysis.
The funeral was
held on Friday under the auspices of the Masonic order of which he was a 32nd
degree member. The home services were conducted by Rev. F. J. Jordan of the
Marshfield M.E. church.
The deceased was born in Chilton on June 29th,
1866, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Paulus and learned the printer’s trade in the
office of the Chilton Times. He came to Marshfield in 1889 and in company with
John P. Hume established the Marshfield News. He afterwards bought the Hume
interest and conducted the paper alone until more recently when he disposed of
it to other Marshfield parties.
In October 1904, he was married to Miss
Delia Larson, who together with an only son, Robert, aged twelve, survive to
mourn the loss of a good husband and father. One sister, Mrs. A. C. Heymer of
Chilton and one brother, George Paulus, now of Palo Alta, Calif., also survive
him.
Adam Paulus was postmaster for four years under the Cleveland
administration and upon his retirement from newspaper work, he entered the real
estate business in which he has prospered. Later he became interested in the
Inland Printing Co. of La Crosse.
