Janice "Janie" Mertens (21 Sept 1947 - 21 Dec 1960)

Funeral services for Janice Mertens were held from St. Louis Catholic church here (Dorchester, Clark Co, WI) Friday at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Father Gerald F. Schuh officiated at the final rites for the 13-year-old daughter of Mrs. Peter Anderson, and the St. Louis choir sang for the service.

Janice, who had been ill for some time with an incurable malady, died at her home here about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 21.

Burial was in Dorchester Memorial cemetery under the direction of Fuchsgruber Funeral Service which had charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Timothy Mertens, Joe Herman, Joseph Werner, Daniel Jantsch, Duane Sebold, and Daniel Duellman.

Janice Mertens was born a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mertens on Sept. 21, 1947. She was a seventh grade pupil in St. Louis School here at the time of her death.

Besides her mother, survivors include her step-father, Peter Anderson, sisters and brothers: Darryl, Corinne, John, Gregory, Jeffrey, Kurt and Cynthia; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Mertens, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Krakenberger. Her father died in April of 1958.
