Schmidt, Joseph (13 June 1878 - 24 January 1969)

Funeral services were held Monday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church for Joseph Schmidt, 90, of Memorial Home, who died here Friday. The Rev. George M. Nelson officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt, who was born June 13, 1878, in Germany, came to the United States at the age of 21. He worked in the gold mines in Colorado and later moved to Wisconsin, locating on a farm in the Lindsey area. He was married in 1920 to the former Esther Leonhart in Lindsey.

He is survived by a son, Louis, of Eau Claire; a daughter, Mrs. Vilas (Gertrude) Emberson of Greenwood; a brother, John Schmidt of Germany; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Max Statz, George Frei, William Schwellenbach and Joe Resong. A rosary service was read Sunday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Out of town people attending were Mr. and Mrs. Louie Schmidt and family of Eau Claire and Mr. and Mrs. Vilas Emerson of Greenwood.
