Harvey, Wells F. (90th Birthday - 1969)
The 90th
birthday anniversary of Wells F. Harvey, publisher of The Clark County Press,
was observed January 30, at Winter Haven, Fla., his present residence.
A
surprise party was given in the evening, attended by 20 neighbors. Co-hosts were
Dr. and Mrs. Paul J. Fellers and Mr. and Mrs. James Goff, Dr. Fellers is a
scientist engaged in citrus research. Mr. Goff is general manager of the Adams
Packing Association, a large citrus processing firm. The guests included three
other scientists working in the citrus industry, and a motel operator, owner of
four Holiday Inns.
Prior to the surprise party, Mr. Harvey was given a
dinner at the Volcano restaurant by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Guy and Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Masten.
At noon the following day Mr. Harvey was honored at his
favorite restaurant in nearby Lake Alfred. There the hostess supplied a large
birthday cake for the table, and she, with three of the waitresses, sang the
birthday song. Each of the four greeted Mr. Harvey with a daughterly kiss.
At the age of 90 Mr. Harvey remains in health and strength and keeps busy
with writing and personal business.

cannot produce here; but here is what was beneath it: The better part of a
century is the span between these two friends. Wells F. Harvey, Sr., publisher
of The Clark County Press, is shown here on his 90th birthday with his young
friend, Rebecca Fellers, 2½-year-old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul J. Fellers of
Winter Haven, Fla. The picture appeared in the News-Chief at Winter Haven and
