Robert "Bob" L.
Tripp, 91, Rib Lake, died on Sunday, April 7 at his home. Funeral services will
be held on Friday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib
Lake, with Father Otto Bucher and Deacon Mark Priniski officiating. Interment
will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit, with full military honors performed.
Pallbearers are John, Jamie and Jeffrey Heiser, Sheldon Rabehl, Eugene
Kukla and Herbert Magnuson.
Visitation will be held at the church on
Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary service, and on Friday from 10
a.m. until the time of services.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib
Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert Tripp was born on
August 4, 1921 in Tomahawk to the late Lloyd and Regina (Schmidt) Tripp. He
attended grade school in Tomahawk, then moved to Spirit in 1928 where he
attended Stone Lake Grade School. He worked on his parents' farm then moved to
Arlington Heights, Ill., and worked for a creamery package company. He served in
the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He then returned
to Spirit where he met his future wife, Myrtle, on a blind date.
On June
22, 1946 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, he married Myrtle Ruth Olson,
who preceded him in death on December 28, 2009, after they were married for 63
years. They owned and operated a dairy farm for 10 years and he also did
logging. He then worked for Magnuson Brothers Fur Farm for 34 years, most
recently as an outdoor supervisor, until his retirement in 1985.
He was a
member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Spirit American Legion Post No. 452,
Southern Price County VFW Post No. 8491, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. John's
Court No. 823, and was Town of Spirit clerk from 1962 to 1975, chairman for the
Town of Spirit from 1979 to 1997 and past president of the Wisconsin Township,
Price County Unit. He enjoyed playing cards and belonged to card clubs in the
Town of Spirit, hunting, gardening, traveling, camping and going to dances.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (John) Heiser of Rib Lake and
Kathleen (Eugene) Kukla of Oconomowoc; two brothers, Willard of Phoenix, Ariz.,
and Donald (Esther) of Oshkosh; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Tripp of Marshfield;
three grandchildren; Jamie (Brenda) Heiser, Jeffrey (Sheila) Heiser and Sheldon
(significant other Bobbi Pipkorn) of Chippewa Falls; seven great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his
parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert; a daughter, Kristie
Degenhardt; a grandson, Scott Rabehl; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Tripp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his family to be used for several
charities.
